CHICAGO — Chicago’s Catholic community will honor Pope Francis Wednesday at Holy Name Cathedral.

Cardinal Blase Cupich will lead a memorial Mass starting at 10 a.m.

The Mass is open to the public.

Francis died on Monday at age 88.

In Rome, the Vatican opened St. Peter’s Basilica to the general public Wednesday to pay their final respects.

Francis’ body will lie in state in the basilica until Saturday’s funeral and burial.
