CHICAGO — Temperatures could eclipse 80 degrees this week before a line of storms ushers in the return of mild conditions, according to the National Weather Service.

Chicago could see a high temperature of 83 degrees Monday and a high of 80 degrees Tuesday, but both days are likely to see significant rain.

A strong storm system will move into Northern Illinois Monday night. It is expected to weaken as it moves east, but Chicago could still see severe storms late Monday or early Tuesday, according to the weather service.
