Man, 27, dies in South Shore apartment fire overnight, Chicago police say

CHICAGO — A 27-year-old man died in an apartment fire in the city’s South Shore neighborhood overnight, according to Chicago police.

Police say that around 3:30 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a call of an apartment fire in the 7800 block of S. South Shore Drive, where Chicago Fire Department personnel were already on scene extinguishing a fire.

The 27-year-old man was discovered unresponsive on the third floor of the building, according to police, and was treated by CFD, but he was subsequently pronounced dead
