BRIDGEPORT — Maria’s Packaged Goods has canceled months of events — including DJ sets, karaoke nights and open mics — as it applies for an entertainment license required by city inspectors.

Serial entrepreneur Ed Marszewski — known by some as the unofficial “Mayor of Bridgeport” — said last week he didn’t think he needed to apply for a Public Place of Amusement license through the city since he never charged a cover for events.

But this month, inspectors with the Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection slapped an orange cease-and-desist order on Maria’s, 960 W. 31st St., barring it from hosting events
