DOWNTOWN — The friendship between a renowned Mexican artist and an American bookbinder is on display at the Art Institute of Chicago, highlighting the role of both women in building transnational art communities.
“Frida Kahlo’s Month in Paris: A Friendship With Mary Reynolds,” the museum’s first dedicated exhibition to Frida Kahlo, is on view through July 13 at the Art Institute, 111 S. Michigan Ave.
The display reveals new details about the time Kahlo spent in Paris, living in the home of American artist and bookbinder Mary Reynolds and her partner, artist Marcel Duchamp, said curator Alivé Piliado.
