Man dead after crash involving semi in Montgomery

MONTGOMERY, Ill. — A man died Wednesday evening after a crash involving a semi truck in Montgomery.

Just after 5:15 p.m., authorities responded to the intersection of Route 31 and Caterpillar Drive on the report of a vehicle vs. a semi truck.

Authorities found a black Nissan sedan pinned underneath the semi-truck. Paramedics pronounced the driver, Jason Merrick, of Oswego, dead at the scene.

Police believe the semi was traveling northbound on Route 31 and attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Caterpillar. The semi-truck driver attempted to stop but was unable to, according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled
