AUSTIN — An arts-focused nonprofit has opened a permanent home in a historical and previously vacant Austin building.

Alt Space Chicago held a grand opening ceremony last weekend at its new headquarters in the former Austin Bank building, 5654 W. Corcoran Place. The 30,000-square-foot space will host five nonprofit community organizations, have 10 artists-in-residence and offer community programs.
