Tily Bagel Shop asks: “Everybody is always trying to copy New York-style bagels, but we’re in Chicago, so why not have a Chicago-style bagel?”

When Hannah Tillett and Mike Banaszak opened Tilly Bagel Shop in August 2023 on the ground floor of a Columbia College student building in the South Loop, they were blown away by the response. The married couple would eventually hire a “bagel bouncer” to help manage long weekend lines.
