National security adviser Mike Waltz is leaving his post, marking the first major departure of President Trump’s administration in the wake of a controversy involving a text group chat, according to multiple news outlets.

Waltz had been at the center of a controversy involving a group chat over the Signal app where national security and defense officials were sharing key details of a military strike in Yemen. Waltz is said to be the individual who appeared to inadvertently invite Jeffrey Goldberg, the editor in chief of The Atlantic, to the chat.
