MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (WGN) — The owner of a northwest Indiana vehicle repair shop is facing a felony charge after he allegedly charged a fire department more than $40,000 for unneeded repairs on a fire truck that he never completed.

According to Indiana State Police, it all started in March of 2024, when members of the Merrillville Fire Department (MFD) took a firetruck to Hoosier Diesel repair shop, located in the 9000 block of Louisiana Street, for preventative maintenance.
