One of the biggest surprises of the first round in the 2025 NFL Draft came when the Chicago Bears used the 10th overall pick to select tight end Colston Loveland. While Loveland was considered TE1 on some expert draft boards, many in the media expected the Bears to target Penn State’s Tyler Warren, a popular pick in countless mock drafts.
Ryan Poles Explains the Decision
Following the selection, Bears general manager Ryan Poles addressed the media late Thursday night. Among the many questions he received, one stood out: Why Loveland over Warren? Poles acknowledged there were “a lot of conversations back and forth” internally about the two prospects. However, he ultimately felt that Loveland “fits what we want to do a little better.”
