WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – The U.S. and Ukraine signed the long-awaited minerals deal President Donald Trump wanted as payback for the military aid sent to the country during its war with Russia. 

“We’ll move it and operationalize it as fast as we possibly can,” Stephen Miller, the White House deputy chief of staff, said Thursday. 

Miller said the signatures will turbocharge investment for both countries.

“But it’s meant to pay back the United States,” Miller said. “That’s they key point.”
