Woman Charged In Fatal Ukrainian Village Hit-And-Run Months After Crash

UKRAINIAN VILLAGE — A woman has been charged in a hit-and-run that killed a 66-year-old woman in January in Ukrainian Village.

Iryna Kalach, 39, has been charged with one felony and a related misdemeanor for hitting Halyna Hudzan with her car and then leaving Jan. 24, police said.

That morning, Hudzan was walking across the intersection at Chicago Avenue and Oakley Boulevard when someone in a red 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross hit her, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
