LINCOLN PARK — Kevin Patel, the 28-year-old man who was fatally shot in Lincoln Park April 16, was just steps away from his apartment when he was approached from behind during an attempted robbery and killed, prosecutors said.

Josalyn Fowler, 25, who has been charged with first-degree murder, murder during the commission of a forcible felony and attempted armed robbery in the West Lill Avenue slaying, was detained by a judge, citing the seriousness of the charges. In court Friday, prosecutors said Fowler called 911 herself after the fatal shooting, trying to mislead investigators, prosecutors said.
