PORTAGE PARK — Speed humps, bike lanes and other safety improvements are coming to a dangerous Portage Park road where two teen bicyclists have been hit in recent years.
The Chicago Department of Transportation shared plans to transform Long Avenue between Irving Park Road and Belmont Avenue during a Tuesday night open house at Chopin Park. Planned safety improvements include speed humps, plastic posts near crosswalks, painted bike lanes, a lower speed limit and one-way designations near the Addison Street and Long intersection.
