The Cubs traded for reliever Tom Cosgrove earlier in April, sending cash to the Padres to acquire him. Now, after pitching in Triple-A for a few weeks the Cubs are adding the funky lefty to the bullpen.

According to Cubs Insider, Cosgrove is getting called up ahead of Sunday’s series finale against the Phillies.

Cosgrove, 28, had an incredible rookie season with the Padres in 2023, when he posted a 1.75 ERA and 0.97 WHIP in 51.1 innings. However, the left-hander struggled last year and wasn’t able to earn a bullpen spot out of spring training a month ago with the Padres.
